O.W. parents protest alleged child molestation
There were reports of commotion in Orange Walk today as citizens were being encouraged by a local radio station to march on the police station. The trouble centred around the police detention of an educator accused of molesting a child at a government school. While some citizens were losing their cool, the police were apparently keeping theirs. The officer in charge told News 5 that the accusation was based on the testimony of a young child and that while authorities were taking the case very seriously, it would be thoroughly investigated without any rush to judgment. At news time no charges had been filed and the suspect, detained Wednesday evening, was still in police custody.
