Fire victim says she will need help to rebuild
Fire victim, Westby says the setback will affect her and her three children significantly because she was not paying any rent and while she is staying with a relative now, she will eventually have to find a way to pick up the pieces.
Sherie Westby, Fire Victim
“I was given the house to stay in and I don’t pay rent, but I was just living in the house for a period of time, so…”
Reporter
“Now this has displaced you and all your children. Where are you staying now?”
Sherie Westby
“I’m getting help from my uncle for the meanwhile until I can get back on my feet and see what I can do.”
Reporter
“You lost everything?”
Sherie Westby
“Everything – everything. The whole house totally destroyed.”
Reporter
“Can you put a dollar figure on your losses?”
Sherie Westby
“I would not be able to put a figure. I need to sit, calculate and figure out everything that was in there – the cost. I’m not sure what the value is for everything.”
Reporter
“How do you pick up the pieces now?”
Sherie Westby
“Well, I’ll start slow, like try take the time to try and organize something. In the meanwhile, I have a roof over my head from my uncle – a room – so that would be the start of it and I move slow from there.”
The children are aged four, six and eleven years old. The owner of the building is Alrick Moody of Sand Hill Village.
