Thieves Target a Family at a Construction Site in Lake Gardens

There was an armed robbery on the evening of March sixth in Ladyville.  In the Lake Garden community, Dianne Martinez, her husband, their daughter and their employees were at a construction site when they were robbed at gunpoint by three assailants who later escaped in the Martinez’s vehicle. The victims were all taken inside an incomplete structure and bound before they were relieved of their personal belongings, over three thousand dollars in cash, a nine millimetre Smith and Wesson firearm, jewellery, cell phones. The three armed thieves then got away in a white Chevy Equinox which was later discovered abandoned in the Ladyville Village. Superintendent Alejandro Cowo says that they are investigating whether Martinez was set up because she lives in Belize City.

“Whilst they were at a yard where a construction is happening, they were approached by three male persons who were armed with firearms. As a result, she along with other persons who were working at the construction site were taken inside the building and tied up. Stolen from them were an amount of cash, a firearm and a vehicle, which they used to escape. Police found the vehicle on the following day in an area in Ladyville. So far, no one has been detained for this incident.”

“It is something that we are looking at as we know that they reside here in Belize City and they are having a construction site in that area, in the Lake Garden area. Nobody has been detained for this incident.”
