Survivors of traffic accident in stable condition
There is an update to report in the fatal traffic accident on Sunday in which four members of the Acosta family from the village of Cristo Rey perished. News Five learnt today that the condition of the five survivors has improved, fifteen year old Seidy and Joycie Acosta are now in stable condition at the Northern Regional Hospital along with their cousins; Miguel and Danisha and nineteen year old widow, Ana Acosta. The incident occurred just before six in the evening this past Sunday when upon reaching mile forty on the Northern Highway, the Mitsubishi L200 pickup driven at the time by teacher, Jose Acosta experienced a blow out and flipped several times. He died instantly. Acosta’s three sisters: Victoria, Maria and Epifania were flung from the vehicle and while Victoria and Maria died on the spot, Epifania died while receiving treatment. Epifania and Jose died of cardio respiratory arrest while Maria succumbed to head and body injuries and Victoria suffered excessive loss of blood. The Acosta siblings were all teachers travelling from Cristo Rey to Maria’s home in Belmopan where she is attending university.
