Channel 5 Employee Targeted by Gunman
In another act of violence, Stephen Ferguson was shot on Sunday night and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. It happened just before eight o’clock in front of his family’s home. Ferguson, an employee of Great Belize Productions, was inside his black Ford Edge SUV on West Street when he heard gunshots. Within seconds, Ferguson felt the excruciating pain on his back and would find the strength to drive himself to the K.H.M.H. Fortunately, after receiving emergency medical attention, Ferguson was out of harm’s way and released. It was a frightful experience for a man who says he has no beef with anyone.

“I was sitting in the vehicle, messing on my phone and watching a music video on my phone and a couple of seconds after that I just heard gun shots. I realized that I got shot and the vehicle got shot up. So I opened the door and ran out the vehicle and meet the police on Orange Street and walked back with him and just jumped in my vehicle and drive myself to the hospital.”

“I think it was three shots. I can be right. I can be wrong. I think it was three shots.”

“And at what point did you realize that you were injured?”

“Right after the shot went off, I felt a burn in my neck back and then I realized I was shot.”

“Do you believe that you were the target?”

“I don’t believe I was the target. I think the target was for whoever lived around there. I was the only person on the street and they must have said let us get the old boy.”
