Three journalists win Washington assignment

The local office of the Interamerican Development Bank held a raffle of its own this morning and three journalists got lucky. Karla Heusner of the Belize Times, Desiree Cain-Smith of Krem Radio and Channel Five’s Ann-Marie Williams will visit Washington D.C. next week to cover a conference of organisations interested in providing financial assistance to Belize in the wake of Hurricane Keith. The journalists will also learn more about how the IDB operates. The bank will pick up the cost of travel and accommodation and the reporters are expected to file stories for their respective media houses. Close to twenty journalists submitted entries for the contest but, not surprisingly, only nine showed up on time to qualify for the draw.
