$15,000 stolen from Fire Department
The Fire Department is short of over fifteen thousand dollars in cash tonight. Assistant Fire Chief, forty-five year old Ted Smith, reported to police that between March twenty-third and April fifth, a manila envelope containing the money was stolen from a filing cabinet in his office at the fire service station headquarters on Cleghorn Street. The money was government property and was allotted for financing for training of new recruits later this month.
