Belizean excels as fashion designer
A Belizean is making waves on the international scene, as a budding fashion designer. This morning twenty-two year old Belizean, Emil Alvarez was featured on “Despierta America”, the popular morning show on Univison. In January Alvarez enrolled at the International College of Fine Fashion Design and gradually Arts of Miami Florida. Today, he has not only been scoring high marks in school, but has been making a name for himself in the fashion industry, by winning a number of local and international competitions. Alvarez’s first achievement was awarded to him in April after he placed second in an accessory design contest held by Channel’s, a magazine in South Florida. That same month Alvarez was awarded for overall excellence and given a scholarship grant of one thousand U.S. dollars for a men’s wear design fall and winter by the National Association of men’s Sportswear Buyers of New York. Recently Alavarez won another scholarship grant for a women’s fall and winter high fashion sportswear granted by the Fashion Group International of New York. This award was given to Alavarez by famous American designer Kenneth Cole. News Five understands that Alvarez will be making a trip home in December…hopefully to hold a fashion show.
