International Culture Fest at UB-Belmopan

Story Picture
Meanwhile, UB’s Belmopan branch held its first International Culture Fest. Six countries participated in the event including Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Panama, Japan and Cuba. The students had various foods and cultural presentations on display. We bring you the following highlights courtesy of the Government Press Office.

Kamila Palma, Director, Regional Language Centre

“We have at least twelve countries, not all are on display for various reasons. They ranged from countries in Latin American to, as you can hear in the background, Mexico is a very strong component. We have Cuba, a student all the way from Japan, who joined us in October and we have a student from Guinea Bissau in Africa. Hopefully this will be the way the language center will go on, where we become truly regional and truly international.”

Palma says they plan to make the event an annual one on the Belmopan campus. Previously the Culture Fest was held at the Belize City campus.
