YWCA promotes peace
“My Peace I Give To You” is the theme for this year’s YMCA/YWCA Week of Prayer. Businesses and other organizations are being invited to take part in the week of activities, geared towards promoting peace. We spoke to YWCA’s public relations officer, Beverley Brown, who says there is no need to spend money, to share peace.

?Well this is the one time where the YWCA and the YMCA come together because we see the need for unity. We work separately most of the time, but in some countries the YWCA and YMCA are one, but we think it?s for the benefit of all young men and women of the world.

?What activities take place during this week??
Beverley Brown
?It?s a week of prayer. We have meditations everyday and different countries do different things, depending on our theme. Our theme this year is ?My peace I give to you, my peace I leave with you.? The world is war torn and sometimes we don?t even realise that there is war, but there are little wars in different countries and they spread up and die down and spread up again. So we thought it very fitting that peace is the theme for this year. We are asking everyone to do things that will bring peace. Even in our work place we can do things like not bickering with each other, being kind, gentle and loving to each other.?
On Friday, a service for peace will be held at the YWCA on St. Thomas Street at three p.m.
