Book launched on T.V. Ramos
Today the National Garifuna Council launched a biography on the legendary founder of Garifuna Settlement Day. The book “Thomas Vincent Ramos: The Man and His Writings” was written by Adele Ramos, granddaughter of T.V. Ramos and contains excerpts from newspapers and other articles dating from 1935 to 1944. Ramos has been collecting her grandfather’s writings for many years and last year approached the National Garifuna Council for help with the book’s publication. T.V. Ramos Day has been observed since his death on November thirteenth 1955. On that day, a tribute is held in his honour at the Methodist Church in Dangriga, followed by a parade to the cemetery where wreaths are laid on his tomb and those of other Garifuna leaders.
