Agreement reached in football dispute
In a follow up to yesterday’s report on Sports Monday, the National Sports Council, BNFA and BFL have issued the following press release. Hon. Cordel Hyde, Minister of Sports, this morning met with representatives from the BNFA, the BFL and the National Sports Council at MCC Grounds and made a joint commitment to the development of football and to the present BFL tournament. The parties agreed that matters concerning football development would be discussed and decided at this level. The following decisions were made: the games will resume Saturday November tenth at all stadiums including MCC Grounds. Games will be played at MCC Grounds on Saturdays and Sundays ONLY. The MCC Grounds will be used for official matches ONLY. The parties will meet again in the future to review the condition of the MCC field for practice. All parties will join resources to get the National Stadium functional for play as soon as possible. All parties agreed to meet on a frequent basis to continue to co?operate for the development of football. The Minister of Sports, Hon. Cordel Hyde also assured those parties that “MCC is not for sale.”
