UK donates more to hurricane relief
The Government of the Untied Kingdom has made an additional donation toward hurricane Keith relief. Working through its Department for International Development, DFID, the British have committed over six hundred thousand Belize dollars to UNICEF to help ten thousand people directly affected by recent floods. Previous British financial contributions have taken the form of grants to the International Red Cross and Pan American Health Organisation for use in Belize. In related news floodwaters are largely receding countrywide and rivers in the north and west are near normal levels. The full extent of damage to affected areas, however, has not been fully evaluated.
