Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 Relief Fund Donates 100K to Hope Haven in San Pedro

The Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 Relief Fund has made another donation; this time, it is befitting Hope Haven Children’s Home and Community Center located on Ambergris Caye.  The donation is in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars. The money will be used for the delivery of essential grocery items to families that have been affected by COVID-19. On Ambergris Caye, a significant percentage of the families depend on tourism, but that sector has come to a grinding halt due the suspension of flights and cruise ships as well as the state of emergency. The money will ensure that the food programme continues and extends to affected families. To date, Hope Haven has assessed one thousand one hundred and twenty-five families and over one thousand of them have received supplies.  Four hundred other families are waiting to be assessed. Distribution of grocery will continue through April and the care bags will be able to include other items such as meat, poultry, eggs, oatmeal, tuna, peanut butter, pasta and canned goods. Recently, Lord Ashcroft donated ten million dollars to the Government of Belize to assist to weather the economic downturn caused by the virus.
