94 Others Arrested Under Emergency Power Regulations, Curfew
There have been over five hundred persons and counting arrested for violating the emergency powers regulation with respect to the state of emergency and curfew. On Sunday, further restrictions were put in place in terms of movement of persons and there were a number of persons who were caught in the net. A total of ninety-four persons were arrested and charged countrywide for various offenses under the emergency powers regulations. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams reports that for the charge of movement outside of curfew on a Sunday, sixty-seven persons were nabbed. Twenty-one were unable to provide reasons for movement outside of curfew period, while six were in breach of curfew. Additionally, nine persons were summoned for the offence of unable to provide reasons for movement outside of curfew period in San Ignacio and one person was arrested and charged for spreading false news. That arrest is in reference to Jose Espat, who police believe spread false information on Facebook.
