Belizean delegates return from Cuban tradeshow
Belize was represented among sixty-four countries at Cuba’s 2000 Trade Exposition. The twenty-three-member business team was headed by Minister of Budget Management and Trade Ralph Fonseca. Belize’s Ambassador to Cuba Amalia Mai-Rancharan along with Derrick Nisbet of BELTRAIDE facilitated the team in mounting a display of Belizean products and meetings with market representatives from all over the world. While in Cuba, Fonseca met with Cuba’s Regional Affairs Minister Ricardo Cabrizas and Vice Minister of Economic Planning, Enrique Martinez. The meetings examined Cuba and Belize’s role in CARICOM along with ways of encouraging commerce within the region. The Belize delegation also met with potential investors including representatives of a large bio-technical company scheduled to visit our agricultural sector later this week.
