New Curfew Measures for Below 16!
There are no new cases of COVID-19 to report today. Eighteen persons have been affected and two have died. So far, six hundred and twenty-nine persons have been screened; six hundred and eleven returned negative and forty-six are under investigation. Those are the statistics up to three p.m. today. Now, despite a state of emergency, there are new measures coming – and those become effective as of this Friday. The new measures include the curfew restrictions for those who are sixteen-years-old and under. Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte was the guest on the Ask the Experts webcast today and explains how this will work come Friday.
Michael Peyrefitte, Attorney General
“There will be a curfew for children under the age of sixteen. So, you can’t say ‘oh, dah five o’clock but I deh with mi ma and pa.’ No! Four o’clock pickney nuh fid eh pahn the street whether you deh with yuh ma and pa. You are only allowed to be on the streets as a child below the age of sixteen between eight a.m. and four p.m. So, parents, guardians, whatever it is you need your children to do or whatever it is you need to do that requires the presence of your children, make sure you do it between eight a.m. and four p.m., starting Friday.”
