More donations to hurricane relief
Offers of relief continue to come in from abroad in the wake of Hurricane Keith. The government of Switzerland announced a fifty thousand U.S. dollar contribution through the International Federation of the Red Cross and the United States will be sending an additional two hundred and thirty-two thousand U.S. dollars through the Pan American Health Organisation. The PAHO funds will be used for clean water programmes and mosquito eradication. In addition a cheque for forty thousand Belize dollars was presented Tuesday by the Regional Organisation for Health in Agriculture, OIRSA. This will pay for assistance to farmers through the Ministry of Agriculture. OIRSA personnel will also work with farmers as they replant and rehabilitate their fields and pastures.
