Man seriously injured in boat crash

Story Picture
An accident that occurred around midday on Tuesday in waters off the Esso compound has left one man clinging to life. A contractor was on his way to work on Esso’s submarine hoses when his boat was involved in a mishap.

Rufino Lin, Country Coordinator, Esso

“There was a crash between the vessel that our contractors were traveling out to the buoys. There was a crash against one of the buoys. One of the contractors was flipped over the boat, he hit his head against a buoy and sustained some head injuries.”

“The name of the contractor is Tim Deskin. He was taken to the hospital when he was taken out of the water. His exact condition at this time I don’t know.”

Doctor Gazi at the K.H.M.H. said that in addition to nearly drowning in the water, Deskin suffered a skull fracture and cerebral hemorrhage as a result of hitting his head on the buoy. By twelve-thirty this afternoon, Deskin was flown to the United States where he was admitted to Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
