Dollar campaign aids hurricane victims

Story Picture
The Youth Development Department has joined in the nationwide Hurricane Keith relief effort. On Monday October thirtieth, the department will launch its Keith relief Give A Dollar campaign. The project encourages everyone to give just one dollar in the hope that a lot of dollars will go along way. Icilda Humes, a youth development officer, told us how the campaign will be conducted.

“Every little bit counts, everybody, no matter how young they are, no matter how much money they have, can play a part in helping the country to build up, helping our citizens to build up their morale, to build up the infrastructure after the devastation of Hurricane Keith.”

“How will it work?”

“Starting October thirtieth, collection bottles that have been donated by Crystal will be set up at various locations throughout the country and we are asking people where ever they may be, whether they go into the bank, if they go into a grocery store, wherever they see this Keith relief container if they can take one dollar out of their pocket and contribute it.”

Humes says by the end of the one month campaign, they are hoping to have collected two hundred and seventy thousand dollars.
