Japan distributes 20 generators
A barge will journey out to San Pedro and Caye Caulker Thursday carrying twenty portable generators, while a truck will hit the roads of the Belize and Orange Walk districts with blankets and plastic sheeting for needy residents. The materials were this morning donated to NEMO’s National Emergency Co-ordinator Anthony Sylvester by Japanese Ambassador Masashi Mlzukami.

“The items we presented are generators, and blankets and the purpose is to express our sympathy to the Belizean people.”
Anthony Sylvester, National Emergency Co-ordinator, NEMO
“We have an ongoing programme for the people of rural Belize and Orange Walk. We have ongoing contributions, and through the Ministry of Human Development we take supplies out to them on a regular basis in co-operation with the Belize Red Cross.”
“On behalf of NEMO I’d like to thank the government and people of Japan for their kind contribution and to remember us in our time of need.”
Sylvester says the Japanese donation is in excess of one hundred and seventy thousand Belize dollars.
