National Students’ Union of Belize Advices UB Students to Not Fully Withdraw

Kevin Chen

UB’s President Sankat has said that the students withdrawing from the course will not warrant any academic or financial penalty and students will be able to re-register for such courses at the very first opportunity. Some students, however, are worried that this will push their timeline of completing their degree. President of the Student Union of Belize Kevin Chen is advising students to not fully withdraw from the courses.

“The University I believe is doing what it can although it can do a bit more but what we have been encouraging our students to do is to do the incomplete form instead of the withdrawal form because the university gives two options. One is to withdraw completely from the course meaning that you would end the course and end up with a grade of a W letter grade. Then there is the second option which is to fill out the incomplete form and that will give you a letter grade of I and what that essentially does is that it transfers your grades, funds over to the next semester so when you want to retake the course you would already have some of your grade, some of your money. If you have paid all then that is okay. That’s good.”
