Guillermo Foreman Stuck at Northern Border
And there is trouble at the border points. Up north, the Mexicans don’t want him, and the Belizean authorities won’t let him enter his own country. Tonight Guillermo Foreman finds himself stateless, stuck at the border with Mexico. He made his way to the Belize/Mexico border after leaving the USA and says he has been at the border since Friday. Foreman says he tested negative for COVID-19 in the U.S. and has been careful during his journey through Mexico. He wants to know why his government is ignoring him.
Guillermo Foreman, Belize Citizen
“I am Guillermo Foreman and I am out here for the past three and a half days. I am here since Friday. I understand that the border is closed but I have been out here and nobody hardly looked after me. I didn’t really get any food. It is just food I had in my vehicle that I eat. Sometimes you would get a little chance somebody will buy a food for you. Sometimes the police will help you out. I am not getting any attention at all. I am just here waiting to see what will happen but today is already Monday and no one has come to see me. I have been tested already in the States for COVID19. It turned out negative. I have proof of that. Yes I came through Mexico, there is a good possibly that something could have happened through there. I’ve been here four day. I didn’t come out from my vehicle through Mexico. I didn’t serve gas in Mexico. Everybody knows that the people served the gas by themselves. You just give them money. I made sure that I gave them my money broken down enough so I can just give them exact money for my gas. I feel good but no one wants to look after me, no testing or anything.”
