Hotel Restaurants & Pool to Be Reopened to Guests
It is expected that later this week, restaurants at hotels as well as pools will now be allowed to be open to guests. Belize Hotel Association President and General Manager of the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza, Ted Tejada told News Five that he has been informed by the Prime Minister that starting this weekend the new measures will kick in. It is welcoming news, says Tejada, because hotels will now be able to rehire employees that were sent home. There are, however, limitations that include physical distancing and dining al fresco.

“Nobody is going to come to a hotel and lock themselves in a room. If they are coming to a facility, they are coming to enjoy. And especially after locking down themselves for months, people want to get out. So the Prime Minister has agreed by this weekend, they will be allowing outdoor restaurants—restaurants that do not have walls and air conditioned, something similar to this—they will be allowed to open with appropriate spacing. You will see our employees coming to serve you with masks, with gloves. That is going to be the new norm for now until something is found with this virus. They are also allowing the use of the pool and so those are the things that we believe will help our local tourism.”
