New head of BOWAND makes plans
The Belize Organisation for Women and Development, BOWAND, has a new executive director. Lillette Barkley Waite feels that the job will be a challenging one, but it’s a challenge she embraces. Waite says there are a number of projects she plans to bring on board that will assist in the development of Belizean women.
Lillette Barkley Waite, Executive Director, BOWAND
“I have been working on a couple of projects since I came onboard. One of them might not be new, but it is new to Belize. It’s a project to work with women in art. We have someone coming in from Canada who will be working on a project with women and young women also, to work on a peace banner that will be going worldwide. And for the first time ever in the history of the banner, Belize will be represented. The banner will be done here in Belize by women artists and young females, who may not necessarily be involved in the arts as yet, but are interested in getting into in the arts. It will then be shipped from here and will be joining the bigger banner and be doing a world tour.”
