Tropical storm keeps Belizeans on the lookout
For those who tune in tonight with just a bit of anxiety caused by this evening’s dark clouds and ominous rain, we’ll get it out of the way quickly. Yes, there is a tropical storm near Belize. Its name is Keith. Yes, it is expected to eventually grow into a hurricane…but no, it is not expected to harm Belize and will likely to do its mischief, if any, in Mexico. Of course there is a chance that Keith could turn west and threaten Belize, but since the storm is moving slowly there should be time to take precautions. The National Emergency Management Organisation, NEMO, does not consider Keith to be an immediate threat to Belize and has therefore not declared the preliminary phase. NEMO and the Met office will, however, continue to monitor the storm and keep the public informed. A more detailed analysis from the weather bureau is coming up shortly in its usual time slot.
