Two adults and three minors remanded for Robbery

Story PictureAlso in the Magistrates’ Court, a group of five appeared twice in as many days for related incidents. On Thursday they were charged with Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition. Only one of them, twenty-four year old Harold Mutrie, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years for each count. But the charges against the other four accused were withdrawn. And today Mutrie, twenty-eight year old Orin Humes and three minors were back in court, charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery for a crime committed with the same firearm. They all pleaded not guilty but could not be offered bail. Magistrate Albert Hoare remanded all of them until June fourth when their case resumes in court. They are accused of robbing All in One Supermarket in Sandhill just after three p.m. on March thirty-first. The storeowner, Lavern Lord, told police that two out of the group entered the store and one of them demanded money from her at gunpoint. The thieves made off with over one thousand, eight hundred dollars in cash, a cheque for a hundred and fifty-six dollars and an assortment of phone cards. One of the minors, a fifteen year old, was additionally charged with Aggravated Assault at the Belize Family Court.
