DFC’s “A Helping Hand, COVID-19 Relief Effort”

A hundred selected families are having a little ease tonight coping from the pain of the COVID-19 crisis. The families were beneficiaries of an initiative by the Development Finance Corporation which sought to put food on the table of affected families. The programme named, “A helping Hand, COVID-19 Relief Effort,” reached families countrywide during May eleventh to fifteenth.  The DFC invested five thousand dollars and staff from its branches was at the front lines assisting in the packing and disbursement of food hampers and vouchers.  Through the initiative, grocery hampers were also delivered to thirty families in the Belmopan area and lunch was provided to twenty senior citizens, identified by HelpAge Belize, Belmopan chapter. Recipients for this food assistance programme were identified through DFC staff with support from the Ministry of Human Development and village councils.
