What’s the Cost of Quarantine? $110 Per Day!
Belizeans who return home will be required to go into mandatory quarantine at a chosen hotel. They will bear the cost of that quarantine and according to C.E.O. Lou-Anne Burns Martinez; the lowest price is one hundred and ten dollars bringing the total bill for the fourteen-day quarantine to one thousand five hundred and forty dollars.

“At this time we are looking at a cost of three meals a day because the meals will be provided to you rooms and your room and board. The hotels have been trying to keep the rates down as low as possible. At the moment and this is subject to change just as you will see we have some modifications on the applications form when you go online. Also some of the information is subject to change. Once we are in touch with you we will give you the ranges available and they general begin about a hundred and ten dollars Belize a night. I believe that we have been consistent in indication that is generally the cost. That is the lowest because it covers food and meal. Another question that I had received outside is can my family bring me food? No. you will be quarantine in the hotel rooms and your meals will be brought to you. Those will be prepared in a way and brought to you that is safe. It is very difficult for us to then find the people, the extra people to quarantine every package that is brought in a room has been properly sanitize and if it is not then you are also putting at risk your family member coming home, all of the people in the hotel who work with them and I think in any of the question we ask in relation the discomfort or the cost we have also have to think about the cost of a human life. At Foreign Affairs, it is a question that comes up a lot. People want to be repatriated and they want the flight to be put on and they want to come home with the government paying for those flights. We have a duty of care to consider the most vulnerable here first. So where we can coordinate and people are able to pay for their own way home we will absolutely do that.”
