Jump up will be free to public

Story Picture
The climactic event of the September Celebrations is the all day jump up held on Independence Day. This year the venue for the street party has been moved to the Barracks in and around BTL Park. Celebrations Coordinator Glenn Tillett says that everything will be ready for a good time.

Glenn Tillett, September Celebrations Committee

“Preparations are coming along fine. The stall spaces are being sold, the music and entertainment has been booked, the tents have been ordered, the placed cleaned. The barricades will go up tonight, the police traffic will be in attendance. All that’s needed is for people to come out.”

Jacqueline Woods

“We have been receiving reports that you all will be charging people to attend this event.”

Glenn Tillett

“I categorically deny that we’ll impose any kind of charge on anybody who wants to come out there. We’ll ask people not to bring bicycles because we don’t want people to be riding through the crowd and we’ll ask them not to bring alcoholic beverages in bottles since they can be used as weapons. But otherwise, unless you are going to buy something, you don’t need money to come in. It’s usually the biggest party of the year and attendance is free.”

So remember: No bikes, no glass bottles.
