Fuel prices rise again
On the 10th of September Belizean motorists who pulled up to their favourite gas station were greeted with news of higher prices at the pump. Not even one holiday later drivers are going to get it again. With the acquisition cost of refined fuels rising in concert with world crude oil markets, the latest round of price hikes will have consumers paying an average of 2% more to fill up the tank. As of midnight tonight the new price of Premium Gasoline rises by 10 cents to $5.85 per gallon. Regular also goes up 10 cents to $5.60. Diesel increases by 4 cents to $4.29, while Kerosene jumps by 15 cents to $3.40 per gallon. At the same time government has vowed to crack down on drivers of official vehicles, who use their cars for unofficial purposes.
