Police Make Progress in Double Murder
There is an update to the double murder in Hopkins which occurred last Friday, May twenty-second at a house on the Hopkins Road. Police in Dangriga have made progress in the investigations. Three persons are believed to have been involved in the murders of fifty-five-year-old tour guide operator Quintin Espinosa and seventy-year-old U.S.A. citizen Roland Burley. Both men were shot to death. According to Commissioner of Police, a duo from Belize City has been arrested and investigators are seeking a third suspect.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I know that yesterday we received some very good information and police are acting on that information. Two of the suspects we believed we involved in the murder are in custody. We are looking for one more person. Some of the items stolen from the house have also been recovered that we believe belong to the deceased. Those are in police custody as well. I was briefed that the weapon used to commit the murder was about to be recovered as well. I cannot say it was recovered because I was out of service area but police in Dangriga have been extremely busy working on that investigation and I believe that by the end of the day today or tomorrow we should be making an arrest for the double murder.”
