P.S.U. Launches Social Media Forum

The executive of the P.S.U. also met virtually on Wednesday night where they held the first of a series of online conversations with its membership regarding various matters, including the increment. According to Flowers, the wider membership of the union is in agreement with the addendum.

“What occurred yesterday is what will now be a weekly discussion with the president of the P.S.U. and so it’s the second in a series of Facebook Live interviews and discussions that the public relations department will be having with the president, as well as with the branch chairs. On a weekly basis we’ll also be having invited guests whether it’s from chairs, the president or other public officers who are relevant to what is happening. I just want to say that it was not a meeting but a rather one in a series of many discussions that will be held live for members to be able to interact with the president and ask the questions and participate in the decision making process as we move forward.”

“Let’s go back a bit to the circular, is it that the entire membership of the union is now onboard with this particular position or have there been any other concerns raised in light of this particular memo, if I may?”

“I think it would be safe for me to say that this is the position of the general membership and more importantly those memberships that are engaged with the unions. We represent well over two thousand members from within the entire public service and clearly when we meet we discuss, when we do surveys, when we have branch meetings we will not have the engagement of every single member and so as per the constitution, once we meet a quorum we have those discussions. We table the motions and decisions are taken. So I can safely say that the addendum to the circular speaks to the position of the P.S.U. as well.”
