Minor Detained for Xinwu Zhu’s Murder is Released
While we were with CIB Commander Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, we asked for an update on the investigation into the murder of Chinese businessman Xinwu Zhu. Last week, Zhu was shot multiple times outside his store; he died hours later while receiving treatment at the hospital. One person, a seventeen-year-old from north side area of Belize City, had been detained in connection with the crime. Superintendent Cowo told News Five this morning that the minor has been released due to insufficient evidence to proffer charges.
Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“The investigation is still ongoing. Unfortunately, the person that police had detained on that day had to be released because we don’t have that evidence yet to tie him up to that murder.”
Duane Moody
“What’s the motive behind that? What has the police been able to determine as a motive?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“We are still trying to establish a motive or we are not sure exactly as to what I the motive.”
