New school for Santa Elena
A new school building was dedicated this morning in the Cayo District. The Santa Elena R.C. Infant and Middle School now has nine new classrooms. The project cost approximately $240,000, of which $175,000 was provided by the Belize government and the remainder by the European Union. The local community volunteered $64,000 in labour. The new building will accommodate 567 students and 17 teachers.
