SJC student wins open scholarship

18-year old Maria Danielle Jorgenson of Corozal Town is the proud recipient of this year’s Belize Open Scholarship. Jorgenson recently graduated from S.J.C. Junior College, where she took the June 2000 advanced level examinations of the University of Cambridge. While she may have received a B in Chemistry, she earned A’s in the General Paper, Biology, Mathematics, and Physics. Jorgenson has previously been awarded a Jesuit scholarship, which she is currently using to pursue an engineering degree at St. Louis University in the U.S.A. The other top five candidates are Vanessa Retreage, Gianni Avila, Clifford Slusher and Giovanni Torres respectively, all Class of 2000 graduates of St. John’s College-Junior College.
