Suspect charged in Jasmine Street killing

Story Picture
The police have made an arrest in the killing of 20-year old Arthur Adolphus. 18-year old Jeffrey Budd has been remanded to Hattieville prison after he appeared in Magistrate’s Court this morning and was charged for the crime of murder. Following the shooting of Adolphus on Monday night, Budd was one of the first suspects taken into custody after the young man was handed over to the authorities by an uncle. Police say Budd was also identified by an eyewitness. Investigations have revealed that Adolphus and Budd had an ongoing dispute and on the night of the murder, Adolphus, who was in the company of some friends, apparently got tired of the harassment. As a result it is alleged the deceased chopped Budd to the chest with a machete. In retaliation Budd pulled out a gun and shot Adolphus in the neck. Adolphus died shortly after arriving at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Budd is scheduled to reappear in Magistrate’s Court on September 26th.
