Two charged in Caye Caulker murder

The police have made an arrest in the killing that occurred at the Sunset disco in Caye Caulker last Friday night. On Thursday, Police arrested nineteen-year old Michael “Yellowman” Henry and twenty-year old Darren “Dar Dar” Henry of number twenty-seven West Street in Belize City. It is alleged that the brothers killed Adolfo Cruz in an act of revenge. According to eyewitness accounts ,the trouble started after Cruz and twenty-year old Clifford Hyde tried to enter the club without paying. After they were denied entrance, both men allegedly threw a bottle at security guards Royden Cain and Nathan McKenzie and then ran from the building. Both guards followed in hot pursuit, but as McKenzie got close to Cruz, he told police that Cruz stabbed him to the abdomen and left upper arm and ran off. But not too far behind were the Henry brothers, whom police say are McKenzie’s friends and were on the island visiting him. The Henry brothers are alleged to have followed Cruz and Hyde and when Cruz got in front of the Ocean Side Restaurant, witnesses told police that’s when the brothers lashed out at him, beating Cruz repeatedly with a galvanized pipe. Hyde, who was standing nearby was also hit. When police arrived on the scene, Cruz lay wounded on the ground with his face covered in blood. Police say they also observed stab wounds to the centre of his chest, right side of his abdomen and left side of the forehead. Cruz died shortly afterwards. The brothers have since appeared in Magistrate’s Court and have been remanded to Hattieville Prison.
