U.S. donates to NEMO
The United States government has donated equipment and supplies to the National Emergency Management Organization. Commenting on the assistance, said to be worth in the neighbourhood of a million dollars, U.S. Ambassador to Belize, Carolyn Curiel, said that “Should a disaster strike, the people of Belize must be ready, and these supplies will help.” General Earl Arthurs accepted the donation on NEMO’s behalf. The provisions include four containers filled with life preservers, clothing, sleeping bags, medical supplies, and other equipment. The donation, believed to be surplus government property, was facilitated by the United States Southern Command.
