New Blood at F.F.B. or Same Ol’ Same Ol’?
Former financial officer Doctor Eugene Cleland is offering himself as a candidate for vice president of F.F.B. He is Onan McLean’s running mate. He too admits that there have been serious ethical concerns regarding the decision making at the Football Federation of Belize.
Dr. Eugene Cleland, Vice President Nominee, F.F.B.
“So I decided to run again on Mr. McLean’s slate to try to bring some real change to the way football is done. For me as a professional, it’s difficult to comprehend the level of unethical practices, the poor governance, the things that you would never actually believe happens actually happens in football. Football politics is a very dirty game, similar to the U.D.P./P.U.P. politics, it’s unbelievable. But nonetheless, I, as a passionate individual for football, believe I can make an impact in football is to be part of the executive of the F.F.B. Football in Belize is very fortunate at this juncture to have almost, over the next four years; football in Belize will have almost eighteen million dollars at its disposal. That level of funding needs smart people to manage it, honest people, ethical people to manage it. I believe that the team with Mr. McLean and Mr. Flores and Mr. Muschamp have better skill sets to manage the resources of the F.F.B.”
