New director appointed to Youth Department

The Youth Development Department is now under new leadership. Shawn McKoy Gill, has been appointed Director by the Ministry of Tourism and Youth. Besides having a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University College of Belize, Gill, also served as president of the YWCA, Trainer with NCH Action for Children and as a representative on the Board of Directors for NOPCA. Her duties include concentrating on programmes that will improve services and opportunities for youths, especially those who are unemployed and out of school. Government has also announced the appointment of Rudolph Conorque. Conorque will serve as the new manager of the National Youth Cadet Service Corp. Conorque, who is a trained teacher with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Primary Education from the University College of Belize, brings to the programme ten years of teaching experience and vast experience working with youths.
