National Celebration Commission Announces Annual Theme Competition
It is not yet confirmed how the national celebrations will be looking like this year. It is still months away and the celebrations have traditionally included events with mass participation, but in this age of COVID-19, everything has changed in respect of large public events. The National Celebration Commission today announced the annual theme competition for this year’s celebration. Belizeans living in the jewel or overseas are encouraged to submit ideas for the theme to mark the two hundred and twenty-second anniversary of the Battle of Saint George’s Caye and the thirty-ninth anniversary of Independence. Winning entry gets a cash prize of five hundred dollars; theme should be up to ten words. Multiple entries will be allowed. Submissions can be emailed to: September celebrations at Gmail dot com, the NICH office on Regent Street, the Bliss Center for Performing Arts on Southern Foreshore in Belize City or at any of the Houses of Cultures in the districts.
