Semi-pro basketball delayed again

The Belize Basketball Association, in a press release has announced that the 2000 Semi-Pro Basketball Season will open on Friday, October sixth instead of the previously scheduled August twenty-fifth date. The BBA says following a review meeting, the owners and executives of the league agreed that the initial date was too short and would not have allowed them to put out a good performance for the fans. However, on August twenty-fifth the pre-season games, which are held to prepare players for the competition, will continue as planned at the Belize City Centre. The first game, set to start at nine o’clock, will feature the Phoenix Raiders going up against Orange Walk. On September first, it’s Cayo versus Orange Walk at the People’s Stadium. The BBA apologizes for any inconvenience cause by the delays and uncertainty surrounding the start of the 2000 Semi-Pro season, but promises that all efforts will be made to ensure that this year’s basketball season is safe and exciting. The four teams participating in the competition are Phoenix Raiders, BTL Nets, Orange Walk and Cayo.
