Lucky “quick pick” ticket yields $10,000
We haven’t seen many Lotto success stories lately, largely because the game has been suspended since December. But while the big draw is off the air, the scratch game has never stopped. Today Vern Usher of Dangriga is ten thousand dollars richer after winning that particular game of chance. News Five caught up with him as he went by the Tropical Gaming Company to claim his prize. Usher has been lucky in the past, but says he never expected to win this much.
Vern Usher
“I wasn’t expecting this ten thousand, but I always expect to win.”
Jose Sanchez
“Normally, how much did you think would have been under the ticket if had won?”
Vern Usher
“Well the last time I had bought, I had two hundred, the next time I gotten one hundred. But this time I got the big one, so I’m very glad for it.”
Jose Sanchez
“What do you plan to do with the money?”
Vern Usher
“Well, I have some bills, I think that will definitely help me pay some of my bills.”
Jose Sanchez
“So you plan to continue playing Lotto?”
Vern Usher
“Well definitely cause, I’m waiting for the really big one.”
That really big one may be returning soon as Lotto’s general manager Carol Young told News Five that the new machines are soon being shipped and the Lotto will be back in business October first. New games will be added to permit more winners and the range of numbers will expand from thirty-one to thirty-three.
