Muggers will spend 16 years in jail

Hattieville prison lies to the north of the Western Highway, so its inmates will not receive the benefits of the NHI pilot project. Pity, because on Wednesday the population of that institution increased by three when a trio of muggers were convicted of jacking a pair of tourists, who were walking by the Princess Hotel on Friday night. Nineteen-year old Kevin Gentle, seventeen-year old Shawn Herrera and twenty-five year old Percival Armstrong were sentenced to eight years in prison on each of two robbery counts. Magistrate Emerson Banner ordered the time to run consecutively, so the sentences will result in sixteen years behind bars for each man. The three still face charges on two other armed robberies committed the same night in Kings Park.
