Espat credits diverse product for tourism success
Improving the quality of services has become a priority of the government, particularly since tourist arrivals have dramatically increased during the last year. Espat credits the tourism boom to the variety of resources our country has to offer.
Mark Espat, Minister of Tourism
“In terms of overnight tourism, a lot of credit should go to the private sector. We have been marketing very aggressively from the tourist board our television and print ads, but the private sector have also worked very hard to improve their standards and their marketing.”
“We have been very careful to take into consideration the need to protect the environment and to preserve the very attractions were promoting for future generations of Belizeans and for the sustainability of our tourism sector.”
Espat says that they are working very closely with the Departments of the Environment and Archaeology to implement safeguards to protect the country from the possible negative effects of an increased number of visitors.
