Zamorano grads meet in Belize

Story Picture
Close to two hundred graduates of Zamorano, the highly acclaimed agricultural college located in Honduras, are guests of the Zamorano Alumni Association of Belize. The delegates are in the country for their convention, which takes place every two years. The meeting will feature a number of activities, including technical presentations and field trips. The convention, which was officially opened on Sunday, also has the participation of government and NGOs. Lizandro Quiroz, President of the Zamorano Alumni Association of Belize, told us where Belize fits into the institution’s plans.

Lizandro Quiroz, President, Zamorano Alumni Assoc. of Belize “Basically to bring our Zamorano graduates from all over Latin America together to enjoy exchange of scientific expertise everyone in their own area. We have technical presentations to achieve that and we also use the opportunity to showcase Belize’s agriculture, tourism and natural resources.”

“We have graduated about sixty Belizean students since 1963 to date. About fifty of us are living in the country, the rest are back in school somewhere and the others are working either in education or as researchers elsewhere.”

The convention is being hosted at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and will come to a close on Thursday.
