Will There Be A New Faculty & Staff Rep on UB Board of Trustees?
The Union is also dissatisfied about the way in which Doctor June Young was removed from the UB Board of Trustees when the financial crisis announcement was made. The U.B.F.S.U. felt that it was a strategic move to silence the faculty and staff rep on the board so that they cannot be a part of the decision making. Earlier this month Young was notified that the Ministry of Education recognizes the end of her term on the board as February of this year. On Thursday, we asked President of U.B.F.S.U. what happens now; he says an election is coming up to determine that.
Pio Saqui, President, U.B.F.S.U.
“Where it is right now is that the university vice president has initiated the process of nominations which is supposed to be closed tomorrow. Then, next week we will have elections. I think we will have one week of campaign and then elections will be happening later that week and then after that whoever is elected, whoever is nominated, is going to be sent to the board. But that is where we are with that point and we are following the process because this is what this is all about, for us to get the processes in place and we follow them.”
