Is Domestic Dispute Behind PG Home Invasion?
A domestic dispute between a Punta Gorda resident and her spouse may have been the reason behind an aggravated burglary inside a hotel room over the weekend. Police in that southern municipality are investigating that angle as they try to determine who entered a room that Daphne Haught was occupying after leaving her home a few days earlier. It is reported that on a previous occasion, when Haught was staying at another hotel, someone gained access to her room in the wee hours of that morning. In this case, the overnight employee was assaulted and forced into surrendering Haught’s room key.

“There was an issue of an aggravated burglary in PG where one Daphne Haught was injured. I’m not going to go into the details other than to say that it is a matter being looked at from different angles because we are aware of a domestic situation which led to her moving out from home temporarily where she resided at a hotel. As a result, she was approached at that hotel where sometime after two a.m., there was a knock on her door. She managed to open the door to see who it was but immediately secured back the door. As a result, she then moved to a second hotel where sometime early in the morning the security guard at that hotel was approached by two male persons, one of dark complexion and one of clear complexion who assaulted him and demanded the specific key to that room. So that’s why I am saying we’re looking at this investigation from different angles and I do not want to go into the details.”
