“The gunshots were about 12:15 a.m. in the morning, I had just finished washing up dishes. I went to bathe, I came out, I out off the light, checked if everything was locked up and I went to lay down. I opened my phone, but I was already going to sleep so I closed it. And as I closed it, I heard three gunshots. But it wasn’t one behind the other. It was one, then like five seconds after, the other two.”
Twenty-three-year-old Jair Tamay had been executed; shot at least once to the face before a white pickup truck sped off from the area. Tamay’s body was discovered hours later by the police near the bleachers.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police were called to the stadium in Corozal Town where they observed the lifeless body of a Hispanic male later identified as Jair Tamay, of a Corozal Town address, with apparent gunshot wounds and motionless.”
Jair was last seen alive around town before midnight on Friday; his father however says that he last saw his son around midday when he left his house on Second Street North with a friend on a motorcycle.
